Function -139s

The Aqua One 139s Blue sponge pad is designed solely to fit the Ocellaris 1400 and 1400UV compact external canister filter. The 139s acts to collect solid waste (thereby preventing the finer 140s and 139w being blocked prematurely) and also provides a culture medium for essential aerobic filtration bacteria

Effect on Flow Rate

Because the 139s is constructed from quite fine sponge it will reduce the flow rate of your Ocellaris 1400 and 1400UV when blocked and dirty. Reduced filter flow rate can be catastrophic for aquarium water quality. The solution is thankfully simple – just replace the 139s as required.

Lifespan

The 139s should last several months of average use and may be rinsed in a little aquarium water at filter clean out time (the dirty water should then be discarded). Older 139s sponge inserts tend to let more debris through than is ideal, for this reason we suggest replacing it every four to six months.

Pack size

Two 139s are provided per pack. Making a pack last between eight and twelve months. Heavily stocked aquariums may shorten this life span – do what is required to keep you Aqua One Ocellaris 1400 and 1400UV filtering effectively.

Use With

The Aqua One 139s Sponge Pad works best with the Aqua One 139w Polymer Wool Pad, the 140s black sponge pad and, of course, Aqua One’s Bionoodles. Inserting a bag of Aqua One’s Advance Carbon between the 139w and the 140s black sponge pad in the top filter tray can bring large benefits in terms of clearer, odour free aquarium water – well worth doing in our view
